Happy Birthday Little Man!!!
HE IS HERE!!!
(this was so awesome we had to post it again!)
Cason Scott Knight took his first breath on January 5, 2010 at 5:03 a.m. He weighed in at a healthy 7lbs 5.5oz and was 20 inches long. 10 fingers, 10 toes!! What a miracle he is!!! On January 4, 2010 we were expected to be at the hospital to check in at 4:00 pm to be induced. At 10:00 am that morning, we received a call from the dr's office that they wanted us to check in early, so we were there by 2:00 pm. We think they were excited to meet Cason too!! We checked in to our LDR (labor/delivery/recovery) room and prepared for what Dr. Lipsitz said would be a long process. We anticipated a long labor, very long! I had to have 2 rounds of antibiotics, as well as meds to start labor. All I can say is "epidural is your friend!!!" I had thought I might try to go as long as possible before getting it, but after my water broke, the contractions came FAST and HARD! MOMMY NEEDED DRUGS!!! =o) The nurse started my Pitocin around 8 pm, and by 10 pm my water broke on it's own - no stopping now - he's coming! Once I received my epidural and started to get comfortable, labor progressed very well. The little guys heart rate kept going up and down so they decided to put me on oxygen to see if it would help. We watched football, a movie, and napped making the time pass. By 2 am Tuesday morning, Dr Lipsitz was worried about the baby's heartrate fluctuating when we tried to push. She decided that a Cesearean was going to be our best option, and we were rushed to the operating room. As scared as we both were - of the hurriedness of it all, of the operating room, of the change of plans, of becoming parents - it all melted away when we heard that precious, sweet cry for the first time. I've never loved my husband more than in that very moment!!! I'm not sure (IMHO)that there is another baby in this world that was as greatly anticipated as Cason, by us anyway!! Even though he arrived with his left arm in the air first, he "pinked up" quickly and squealed and squirmed just perfectly. Dad, Mom and Cason, the best baby E-VER (as we have dubbed him) are doing fantastically!!!
Much love to you all
The Knight Family!
