Our First Family Walk

More of a stroll than a walk, but still so fun....
After being home for a week (Jan 15) and being cooped up in the house for a while, a nice walk can make all the difference. And if you include the time we were in the hospital too, it was nice to get outside and enjoy some really FRESH air. And it was finally not too cold to actually go outside with the little man. We loaded up the stroller for a trip around the complex so that Cason could see his new home and neighborhood.... What a great day!!!

Pooooooop.....

Oh yeah, we are "those" parents....(I can't believe we're posting this - but it's AWESOME!!)
The little man is ALL boy because he can poop with the best of them..... This was sooooo good we had to take a photo!! The sound effects were AMAZING to say the least!!! Sounded like pop rocks being dropped into a Coca Cola can!!!

But he's still the best thing E-VER, that's for dang sure!!!

First (official) Pediatrician's visit

We went to see Dr. Johnson for our first official pediatrician's visit on January 12.

Wow!!! Hard to believe that our little man has been with us for only a week. Seems like he's been with us for so long. Hard to imagine life without him!!!
He weighed in at a hefty 7lbs 5 oz (he had gotten down to 6lbs 9oz when we left the hospital), and is still just 20 1/2 inches long. (Dr. Johnson gave us the percentile numbers too, but we aren't really concerned with those, hence the reason we don't remember them!! hehe....) His signs of jaundice are quickly disappearing and he's eating so much more now. Nursing like a champ, that's for sure!!
Such a big boy!!!

BATHTIME!!!

Oh you have to love bathtime.....

........that is unless you're less than a week old, completely naked on a hard surface, freezing and still probably scared to pieces!!! But Cason was a little trooper... Couldn't get completely in the water yet, until his belly button (or as Mommy calls it, his done button) heals and falls off, so we had a makeshift sponge/washcloth bath instead.
We had everything laid out on the kitchen counter for the little guys "first bath" but he was soooo not happy with it. It was January, it was cold, and it was not a good time. But he endured it long enough for Daddy & Mommy to get a photo op out of it!! (We have video too, so eventually we'll get that downloaded.) He was just too precious, and of course, he slept like a rock afterwards....

He's the best thing E-VER!!

Getting adjusted...

Wow... those first few days were sooo stressful and wonderful all rolled into one.
Before we left the hospital on Friday the 8th, we were told that Cason had a little jaundice. Dr. Johnson, our pediatrician wanted us to supplement his nursing with a little formula (about 1 ounce) and then bring him into the hospital in Hendersonville on Saturday, the 9th, to have his Bilirubin tested again. If it was still high (too many red blood cells in his system), then they may have to admit him for treatment to get the number down.
After a very sleepless night for Cason, Mommy and Daddy - still adjusting to being in new surroundings, and all of us still learning about each other - we went to Hendersonville Medical Center and had Cason's tests run again. That little boy is a CHAMP!! They had to cut his heel to get a blood sample and the little man didn't even budge!! Such a trooper for a new guy... =0)
Luckily the tests came back fine, but Dr Johnson wanted to see us at his 1 week "birthday" for a follow up. LOVE our pediatrician!! (These pics are from Jan 9 - also Uncle Clayton's b-day!!)

Coming home.... finally....

Ahhh............... Feels so good to finally be home.

We brought Cason home on Friday Jan 8 and it was sooo good to finally be home. Home, in our own space, in our own bed and in our own cradle... Nothing feels like HOME!!
He had his first car ride that day, and slept the whole way home....It snowed most of the time we were in the hospital, so it was really neat to get out and see what was going on in the world!!

Welcome home little man... welcome home!!

Love you,
Mommy & Daddy

Mommy here.....

Ok, so I just have to put this out there.....
Mommy (me) has been harboring some SERIOUS guilt for not keeping the blog updated. ALOT of guilt!!! So I've decided, over the next few days (if things are slow at work, hehe), I'm going to update with little posts and pictures to catch everyone up on the last few months. Hopefully (fingers crossed) by the end of the week, we will have caught you up on Cason Scott's Big Adventures!!!
Love you all!!
