Family photos - Spring 2012
We have a photo for almost every day of Cason's life it seems, but this year we actually decided to get some "real" family photos taken. Now granted, they are mostly of Cason, but with a subject that amazing, who wouldn't be ok with that, right?! Amy from Jenn Cady Design Photography was wonderful, and made us feel so at ease. Like we were hanging out with an old friend for a few hours so she could take our pictures. And even though it was almost nap time, Cason really seemed to have fun!!

We can't say enough great things about Amy and JCDP. Very easy to work with and our photos turned out exactly as we had hoped. She absolutely captured Cason's personality perfectly!

It sure is Monday!!
After an early, very peaceful night's sleep...
Monday morning came just too quickly...
And nap time was just not long enough...

Fun in the sun
Saturday morning, Cason woke up unusually early; normally he's up around 7-8ish, but today he was up and in our room at 5:30ish! Dance party at our house at 6:00am!!!
Taking advantage of the early start, we got dressed and headed straight to Cracker Barrel for breakfast! Yea!! After breakfast, Daddy went to play golf with his buddies and Cason & Mommy packed up and made a trip to the lake.
We hadn't been there before, and it wasn't quite what we anticipated (generally icky), so we made a U-turn back to the house. After a quick stop at Starbucks & a fast change of plans, we went to the pool instead. We swam, splashed on the steps, floated, ate some lunch, and then headed home for a nap.
After our 3+ hour nap, we headed to the zoo.
Now THAT'S a good day!!

The Nashville Zoo
We had so many friends tell us about how great the Nashville Zoo was! So after getting a coupon code for a nice discount, we decided to buy a family membership. On Saturday afternoon, after the dads played golf, we met our friends David and Misty and their daughter Avery (also their niece Ashley, and nephews Jaden and Andrew - they're awesome kids!) and headed to see the all the animals and the new baby giraffe.
Cason had a look of wonder on his face quite a few times!! Not sure if he was excited about the monkeys & animals or holding Avery's hand. That was just too precious to watch. She was so protective of him. We had such a great time and will be making another trip very soon.

These little animals were so stinkin' cute.
"Why, hello there?"
For some reason, I envision them speaking to one another with a thick English Accent.
There was an area built in to the Meerkat Manor to actually "enter" their habitat and watch them up close. Andrew and Jaden took Avery and Cason inside so they could watch.
Saddlebilled Stork
This bird was huge, but hard to tell by the photo.
Such a big boy now.
I think once Avery shared her Nutter Butters, they officially became a couple.

There was another Bengal tiger also, but couldn't get a clear picture.

Once Avery showed him the Koi fish in the pond, he loved it!

Gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous!
At the Critter Encounters petting zoo, Cason got to brush a real goat, and see a camel and a donkey up close too. Of course, anything that big is a "horsey! horsey!" to Cason. He and Avery ran from one area to the next so quickly, it was hard to get good pictures. They were so cute.

This picture was taken from FAR away, and he still looks huge!
Giraffes
Including the new baby giraffe born on Father's day June 17, 2012.
She was 6 feet and 160lbs at birth.
WOW!
The Captain had such a great time at the zoo. We ended our visit with a stop by the bouncy houses and the huge playground. Afterwards, we all went to have dinner (5 Guys Burgers & Fries - Yum!) and then headed home for some much needed rest.
We can't wait to go back again.
