Christmas Eve 2011

Wow!! Christmas is almost here!! We are so excited for Captain Awesome's second Christmas.  We are planning on doing it up BIG this year!!  The morning started out great because Daddy is The Bomb!  He went out to Krispy Kreme for doughnuts and then to Starbucks for a treat for Mommy.  Nothing says it's almost Christmas like a grande white chocolate peppermint mocha!! YUM!!

Waiting for Daddy to get home with the yummies!
 Sprinkles and chocolate - Sweet!!
 Yum!
Mommy cooked a BIG dinner for our Christmas meal.  It took several hours, and Mommy enjoyed every minute of it!  Honeybaked ham, sweet potato souffle, green beans, mac-n-cheese, Gamma's scalloped potatoes (first time Mommy has made them) and rolls. YUM!

Cooking up a TON of food
Whipping up the sweet potatoes

For years, I (Mommy) have so longed for a Christmas eve/day that had Mommy enjoying her time in the kitchen cooking while the boys (Daddy & child) are playing and watching football.  What an amazing blessing it is to have your prayers answered!!

Later in the evening we went to the Christmas Eve candlelight service at church.  Mommy sang with the choir, then there was a children's message, the reading of the Christmas story and the service ended with caroling by candlelight.  It was so peaceful and a beautiful reminder of the reason we celebrate - the birth of Jesus, the newborn King!

My goodness, he's such a big boy now!!
One of our family traditions we started last year with Cason was to open 1 gift on Christmas Eve night (parent's choice, of course!).  So once we were home from church, we had dinner and then Cason opened his Christmas Eve gift.

Just love the look of surprise on his face!
Our tradition is Christmas pajamas to sleep in the night before Christmas.  This year's pj's say "Santa's Helper".

Snuggling with daddy before bedtime
What a wonderful day!
All 3 of us will hardly sleep waiting for tomorrow!!
