Booger picker
There really is no way around it.
Kids pick their noses!
It's a fact.
What we didn't know is that kids can actually get stuff and spread it just by picking their noses. For instance, have you heard of Impetigo? Yeah, until Cason, we hadn't either. Here's our story.
Cason's face had been breaking out off and on throughout the late spring and early summer. We just attributed it to warmer weather, boys getting dirty and possibly baby/childhood acne. "Just keep him bathed and clean and it will go away on it's own" is what we thought.
(a few examples of Cason's breakouts)
Finally one day at Momma G's, Cason's "acne" spread from 1 bump to about 6 bumps within hours! When we picked him up that afternoon, Momma G was worried it might be chicken pox but wasn't really sure. We immediately went to the after hours clinic at Hendersonville Pediatrics. After seeing Cason for maybe 2 minutes, the doctor ruled out chicken pox (amen!) and strep (whew!) and diagnosed him with Impetigo.
On our way to the doctor's office
According to the doctor, Cason would pick his nose and develop a sore. Infection would set in and then as he continued to pick, it would continue to open sores and spread. Gross, right?... he was treated with some oral antibiotics and a topical medicine to treat the infection inside and out. That was great news to this worried Mommy & Daddy!
In other words, he has the Booger Picker disease.
So....
Kids pick their noses,
but this is a great reason to make them try and stop!
Cason was out of school for a few days and chilled at home until his sores cleared up.

Happy, health boy again!
